We Cannot bring the old days back,
When we were all together;
The family chain is broken now
But our memories last forever.
Written in print, to a sporting legend..
He was one of Northern Ireland's best distance runners for over a decade and his successes included victory in the Coca Cola 10k Road Race series.
Andrew Campbell's Annadale Striders colleague Dermot Donnelly described the late athlete as a "great team player".
"He contributed massively to our successes for many years and was something we could always rely on to produce a good performance for the team," said the Commonwealth Games athlete.
"After he ran very well to finish third in the Seeley Cup a couple of weeks ago, he said that he was going to retire but he did return to training with us and we were hoping to convince him to compete in the Northern Ireland Cross Country Championship."
